IBIZA TOWN

There was no point of going to Ibiza without visiting the main town. So, we've rented a car and spent a day at one of the island's most famous and gorgeous beaches - 'Las Salinas' or 'Ses Salines', and went back at night to enjoy the night vibe.

I have to say I have never seen such a bubbly and vibrant town and I've been to Cancun twice. We went in June which is suppose to be a calm month and I can't imagine how it's like in August.....

It's a shopping heaven bellow 'Dalt Vila' which is the ancient fortified town, beware to leave your credit cards at home or you might end up broke loooooool People were dining at 22h30 in the streets of 'Dalt Vila', packed with tourists and all shops open, a very inviting atmosphere, the music, the local people, it really is a must see.

Não tinha graça nenhuma ir a Ibiza e não visitar a cidade principal de Ibiza. Alugámos carro e passámos o dia numa das praias mais famosas e bonitas da ilha - 'Las Salinas' ou 'Ses Salines', e voltámos a Ibiza de noite para apreciar o ambiente.

Tenho que dizer que nunca estive numa cidade tão vibrante e cheia de vida e já fui duas vezes a Cancun. Fomos em Junho que é suposto ser calmo e nem imagino como será em Agosto.....

Por baixo de 'Dalt Vila' a antiga cidade fortificada, há um autêntico paraíso de compras, cuidado deixem os cartões de crédito em casa ou podem ir à falência rapidamente looooooool Pessoal a jantar às 22h30 da noite nas ruas de 'Dalt Vila', turistas por todo o lado, lojas abertas, um ambiente muito convidativo, a música, as personagens locais, é mesmo um ponto obrigatório.

Um paraíso de pedras, missangas e jóias étnicas. Decoração e peças fantásticas. Não me deixaram tirar fotos do interior......

All small souvenir shops and hip stores sell local traditional clothes. Pure white cotton Ad-Lib fashion.

Todas as pequenas lojas de lembranças e lojas mais 'in' vendem roupa tradicional da ilha. Moda Ad-Lib em puro algodão branco.

This was one amazing store. The leather embroidered boots and bags are to die for and range from 220€ for the boots and 300€ for the bags. The decor was worth the visit.

The hip fashion on the island was leather boots with shorts or short summer dresses. All trendy girls were seen with a pair.

Esta é uma loja fantástica. As botas em pele bordadas e as malas são lindas de morrer. O preço das botas era cerca de 220€ e as malas 300€. Só a decoração da loja vale a visita.

O que estava a dar na ilha em termos de moda eram botas em pele com calções ou vestidos de verão curtos. Todas as moças eram vistas com um par.

Holiday Report: IBIZA

So sorry for the absence of posts but I've been away on holidays to the lovely island of Ibiza. What can I say? I loved every minute. The island is gorgeous and has a very relaxing and easy going vibe. It has some of the most amazing beaches and having been a few times to the Caribbean, these come very close. We've stayed at Es Cana near Santa Eulália, one of the main towns a 20 minute drive from Ibiza town. Very peaceful and great for families with kids. Of course I took lots of photos to share with you. I hope you enjoy it!

Desculpem a ausência de posts mas estive de férias na linda ilha de Ibiza. Que posso dizer? Adorei cada instante. A ilha é linda e tem um ambiente muito relaxante. Tem algumas das praias mais fantásticas e, tendo estado algumas vezes nas Caraíbas, estas não ficam nada atrás. Ficámos em Es Cana perto de Santa Eulália, uma das cidades principais a 20 m de carro de Ibiza cidade. Muito calmo e óptimo para famílias com crianças. Claro que tirei montes de fotos para vos mostrar. Espero que gostem!

'La Jacaranda Lounge' at Es Cana is a must go. The decor is fab and it has a great pool overlooking the ocean. You can also have a massage during the day. We've relaxed one night by the pool and enjoyed a delicious ice cream and chocolate cake. For those who like there's also moroccan pipes 'shishas' in the menu.

'La Jacaranda Lounge' em Es Cana é um dos locais obrigatórios. A decoração é fantástica e tem uma piscina óptima com vista para o mar. Podem também disfrutar de uma massagem durante o dia. Passámos uma noite junto à piscina a comer um gelado delicioso. Para quem gosta há também cachimbos marroquinos 'shishas' na ementa.

ES CANA is also home to the famous Hippy Market. Every Wednesday from 9h00 to 18h00, people from all corners of the island come to this market which dates from the 70's. It really is a must see for the great artisans of leather, straw, jewelry and clothes. Be sure to arrive early, I left at around 11h30 and it was already packed and people stumbling on eachother.

ES CANA é também onde se realiza o famoso Hippy Market. Todas as 4ª Feiras das 9h00 às 18h00, pessoas de toda a ilha vêem a este mercado que data dos anos 70. É um dos locais obrigatórios a visitar pelo fantástico artesanato de cabedal, palha, jóias e roupa. Vão cedo, eu saí eram umas 11h30 e já estava cheio de gente a esbarrar uns nos outros.

If you ever go to Athens.....

Make sure you'll stop at Melissinos, the poet sandal maker's store near the Acropolis. His family has been in business since 1927 and as you can see from the models bellow, they have made leather sandals for many celebrities, a favorite model being the 'Jackie O'. Unfortunatly, they don't sell online, you'll have to go to Athens to buy these hand made sandals, which can be custom made to your feet. Prices range from 13 to 27€ (depending of size). Pantelis Melissinos, the founder grandson, also makes artwork, jewelry and other crafted pieces, check his website here. Não deixem de passar na Melissinos, a loja do poeta fabricante de sandálias perto da Acrópole. O negócio de família teve início em 1927 e, como podem ver pelos modelos abaixo, fizeram sandálias de cabedal para muitas celebridades, sendo um dos modelos mais pedidos o 'Jackie O'. Infelizmente não vendem online, têm que ir a Atenas para comprar estas sandálias feitas à mão, que podem ser feitas à medida dos nossos pézinhos. Os preços variam entre os 13 e os 27€ (depende do tamanho). Pantelis Melissinos, o neto do fundador, também faz obras de arte, jóias e outras peças trabalhadas, podem ver o site aqui.
